Anyway I got the new card, read up on how to replace the card, and opened the laptop Dell1510 card is a downgrade to Intel5100, but they won’t budge). They sent me a replacement Dell1510 card ( Now this is the part that I don’t like. We spent close to one and half hour going through various solutions, she also asked other technical support people and they also confirmed that Intel 5100 card was having problem. So I tookk a day off from work and called dell support, since it is a business class laptop it had very good support, the support person Anne was very helpful and knowledgeable about the system. it did work one time but connectivity was very slow, only 400 kbps on download and after a while I lost even that. I tried all of these solutions and some more. Out of the box the wireless connection didn’t wor even the wired connectivity needed something of tweaking and driver update to work.Īnyway I spent hours researching on internet about the potential problems like drivers not updated, adapter settings were wrong, wireless router was not supporting 802.11n, problem with the encryption scheme WPA-PSK with solution ranging from buying a new router, changing WPA to WPA2 or removing encryption, disabling 802.11n on the wireless card, settings adhoc channels to force to 802.11g to maximizing power output, to reinstalling windows or vista etc. I purchased E5500 from dell couple of weeks back with P9600 core2duo and Intel 5100 agn wireless card.
